Information Session: Get ready to do business in the Black Sea Region
This session will provide market overviews on water solution and irrigation opportunities for U.S. firms in Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania:
  • Bulgaria is a leading agricultural crop exporter. Upgrade and investment of irrigation systems to help local farmers is a key priority for the Bulgarian government to help farmers compete abroad. $8 billion U.S. dollars are available for eligible farmers to modernize agricultural enterprises related to water and irrigation infrastructure through EU financial mechanisms.
  • Moldova with productive black fertile soils has been shifting to higher-value crops requiring climate-smart rainfed agricultural as the country emerges from severe drought. The government has drafted a National Irrigation Strategy to mobilize and foster partnerships and investment. Recent investments have targeted water management solutions for orchards and vineyards
  • Romania is a top E.U. agricultural producer. Only 10% of the country’s 22 million acres of arable land are irrigated. There is strong demand for smart irrigation with green energy and agricultural financing.
  • Major opportunities for U.S. suppliers exist in these markets with innovative and efficient irrigation solutions; water management, storage and distribution systems (rainfall harvesting), pumps and appliances; irrigation components (including small-scale, drip and sprinklers; smart/IT technologies for water monitoring and usage.
