On May 4, Investment Office and AmCham Turkey co-hosted the second edition of the GVC Talks, a series of webinars, entitled “GVC Talks- Regional Trade Relations". The panel session was supported by U.S.-Turkey Business Council
Among the attendees of the webinar were Board Member of AmCham Turkey Burak Kılıç and CEO of Procter & Gamble Tankut Turnaoğlu.
Investment Office Vice President Ahmet İhsan Erdem offered insights into Turkey's extensive network of free trade agreements, customs union with the EU, and proximity to major markets, which have been a magnet attracting multinationals to relocate some of their activities across their value chains.
Petrol Ofisi joins the Beba Foundation, Limak Holding, Logo Yazılım, and PepsiCo Turkey as leading supporters of the Million Women Mentors/Milyon Kadına Mentor program with their diverse portfolio of engineers across a range of sectors.
Since its launch on March 8, the Million Women Mentors/Milyon Kadına Mentor program has collected 5304 mentorship pledges from 49 companies and recruited 430 mentees with ages 18-25. The U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Turkey Business Council will continue to support the Million Women Mentors/Milyon Kadına Mentor program as an important pillar of its Women in Business Initiative that aims to increase women’s integration into Turkey’s workforce through mentorship, capacity building for women exporters, and policy recommendations.
We encourage you to join the mentorship platform and broader U.S.-Turkey Women in Business Initiative. While our goal is to build 1 million mentorship relations in a decade, we can always aim higher. We are hoping to build momentum and take this program to U.S. and Turkish governments to help translate our experience into policy actions to strengthen women’s presence in the workforce.
Defense & Aerospace Working Group Meeting
On Friday, May 7, the U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Turkey Business Council hosted a virtual meeting with U.S.-Turkey Business Council's defense and aerospace member companies for a strategy session with former U.S. National Security Council Turkey Director Nicholas Kass and U.S. State Department Policy Planning Staff COL. Rich Outzen.
