Message From TABA`s President on Ankara Attacks

The Turkish American Business Association (TABA/AmCham), an American Chamber of Commerce Abroad in Turkey, was deeply saddened to hear of the terrorist attack that took place at the United States Embassy in Ankara on Friday, February 1, 2013. Turkey and the United States are and will remain strong allies, and we both condemn in the strongest terms all forms of terrorism.

We would like to commend the work of all the officials and security forces who responded to this tragedy. Turkey, from East to West and North to South, is a safe place for U.S. citizens. As the Turkish-American business community we will not allow these acts to affect Turkish-American economic relations. Our mutual investments will continue without delays, and so will our partnership.

This act of terror will not harm the friendship and partnership that exists between the United States and Turkey. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Mustafa Akarsu, the hero who lost his life valiantly protecting the Embassy in Ankara. Further, we wish a speedy recovery to journalist Didem Tuncay and all those injured in the blast.

K. Ekim Alptekin
